Steve Mackin is Mercy’s president and chief executive officer. Mercy, one of the 25 largest U.S. health systems, serves millions annually with nationally recognized quality care. Mercy is a highly integrated, multi-state health care system including more than 40 acute care, managed and specialty (heart, children’s, orthopedic and rehab) hospitals, convenient and urgent care locations, imaging centers and pharmacies. Mercy has more than 900 physician practices and outpatient facilities, 2,400 Mercy Clinic physicians and more than 40,000 co-workers serving patients and families across Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Mercy also has clinics, outpatient services and outreach ministries in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.

Steve joined Mercy in 2017 as senior executive for business line development, with an initial focus on cancer services in Mercy’s east region. Most recently, he served the ministry as executive vice president, president of Mercy's east region and president of Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

Prior to joining Mercy, Steve spent nearly 19 years with Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a national network of five hospitals that serves adult cancer patients. During his tenure, he progressed from a management fellow to executive positions, including chief operating officer and interim president of the organization.

Steve holds a bachelor’s degree from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In support of his community, Steve serves on the boards of the American Cancer Society’s CEOs Against Cancer of Missouri, Greater St. Louis Executive Committee of Chair’s Council, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Heartland Whole Health Institute.
